Nark Chaturdashi

Diwali is celebrated with the happiness of returning home of Shri Ram after killing Ravana. On this day, Mahalakshmi is worshiped in every house, and we wish for happiness and wealth to be made from her. But, do you know? Which gods-goddesses are worshiped on the day of Diwali?

Therefore, ‘The Karma’ is going to tell you about those gods and goddesses who are prayed to on the occasion of Nark Chaturdashi. And to know the reason behind this, you should see this video till the last.

Story of Narkasur’s Slaughter

In Mahabharata, Shrimadbhagwat Puran, and other texts, one story has been narrated about Nark Chaturdashi.  In present Assam, there was a wicked king of Asura’s race whose name was Narkasur. Narakasura terrorized all the deities and humans with his power. Along with the sages, he had also taken thousands of women captive.

Narakasura was cursed that he would die only through a woman. That’s why Shri Krishna made his wife Satyabhama his charioteer and killed Narakasura. And along with all the saints, sixteen thousand women were also freed on the Chaturdashi day of the month of Kartik. That’s why this day is also celebrated like Diwali and it is called Chhoti Diwali. In this way, it is the Diwali of women’s liberation.

It is believed that on this day, worship is done after getting up early in the morning and wearing clean clothes.

A day to make Yamraja pleased.

Yamaraja is recognized as the deity of death. But in the Sanatana Dharma, the god of death is also respected. Because according to Sanatana Dharma, death is the door to salvation. On this day, lamps are lit in the night to worship Yama. It is believed that there is no premature death by this. Yamraja does not come to the house by lighting a lamp in the south direction through the eldest member of the family.

Chhoti Diwali on Kali Chaturdashi

There is also a ritual of worshiping Adya Shakti Mahakali on the night of Chhoti Diwali. As soon as the moon enters Leo on the night of Amavasya, it becomes the night of achievements for the Shakta community. Devotees who follow the Shakta tradition worship Maa Kali on this night.

Night of Shrikrishna Chaturdashi

Since this day, Krishna has freed sixteen thousand women from hell; Shrikrishna is worshipped along with Radha Rani ji this day. This day is also called Shrikrishna Chaturdashi.

Festival of Vamana Puja

On this day, there is also a ritual of worshiping the god of wealth and Yaksharaj Kuber. On this day, Vaman Puja is popular in southern India. Lord Vishnu paid a visit to Mahadani Raja Bali for the first time in the form of a Vaman and said that he would appear in the form of a Vaman every year from then onwards.

Festival of worshipping the god of wealth

On the same day, there is also a law to worship the God of wealth and Yaksharaj Kuber. Where Lakshmi, the goddess of happiness and prosperity is propitiated on Diwali, the day before this day, the god of wealth is also worshipped.

By worshiping him there is never any shortage of money in the house. So see, just like Diwali, Chhoti Diwali also has great importance in Hindu Sanatana Dharma.
